COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Operations Update

We are With U • For U.

Many of the departments under the Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) have changed service offerings as a result of the campus moving to only limiting essential individuals on campus amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please click on the department below to view the status on the services they offer, guidelines on COVID-19 business processes, or temporary suspended services, etc.

In addition, most of our staff continue to work from remote locations and are available via email or other online communication vehicles.

Beginning April 3, 2020 at 9:00 p.m., the campus is securing all buildings to prevent vandalism, theft, and unauthorized access. The exterior doors normally unlocked during business hours will remain locked 24/7. Click on the links below for more information:

Building Closure Information

Laboratory Buildings

Beginning April 3, 2020 at 9:00 p.m., the exterior doors normally unlocked during business hours will remain locked 24/7. Locking of the buildings is the same access control as night, weekend, and holidays. If you currently use a key or cardkey to access the buildings at night or on the weekend, your access does not change. No change in utility service, thermal comfort, air flows or other modifications are occurring. Building maintenance, thermal comfort, and other issues can be reported using the With U • For U app or by calling 949-824-5444.

The university is taking this step to:

  • Enhance the safety of building occupants who are in the buildings with a significantly reduced campus population.
  • Assist in the prevention of vandalism. A single emergency shower pulled in a lab building can result in hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage, lost equipment, and lost research.
  • Help deter theft from occurring. Theft could be that of equipment and chemicals as well as intellectual property.
  • Protect the infrastructure as it exists right now, decreasing the time to return operations to normal when allowed.

Assistant Deans and Building Facilities Managers have the authority to approve you to have a key or keycard if you currently don’t have one. Please contact them to get approval. Keys and keycards can be picked up from the Building Facility Manager or at the UCI Lock Shop with approval of the Building Facility Manager or Assistant Dean.

ADA Accommodation:

  • Individuals needing special assistance or accommodation are to describe the assistance needed to the Building Facilities Manager or Assistant Dean. The Building Facilities Manager or Assistant Dean will arrange to provide the needed assistance.

Deliveries:

  • Detailed instructions for the receipt of deliveries are provided in a separate communication. Please ensure you reference and are coordinating per the information provided.

Important Note: Facilities Management and the UCI Police Department are not able to provide access and cannot field calls for service to unlock doors. Campus faculty and staff are encouraged to ensure they have practiced accessing the spaces they need for the quarter and have obtained the proper authorizations in advance.
